Pros

Vulcan is a good, solid company with great benefits and great employees. With the recent promotion of Tom Hill to CEO, we now have a great forward vision that was missing in the past. With the economy picking up, Vulcan is poised to do great things in the future.

Cons

Some upper management positions are filled with the wrong people just because they've been with the company a long time. In my opinion, positions should be filled with the most qualified people and not filled with people due to their longevity with the company.

Pros

It’s just a job now, I wish I could say something good about it but I don’t want to tell you a lie. Hourly pay scale is too low, benefits are going so high in 2013 that it’s going to be a finical burden just to pay the premiums, co-pays are already so high that the average hourly worker can’t use it and in 2013 they are going higher, some of the people will have to work in extreme pain do to medical problems, which in turn will affect productivity, but they will have no choice, because they have to buy gas to get to work and be able to put food on the table and pay other bills just to live. So if you don’t owe for anything, and you live with your parents or someone else and don’t have a family of your own, then this may be a good place for you to work as long as you don’t have any aspiration to make good money or move up in the company.

Cons

When I first started working for this Company I had high expectations of learning to do a lot of different jobs, so that I would be a better asset for the Company and could make more money. But after learning to do numerous jobs I got no raise in pay, in fact, I learned that I was not even being paid the same as someone who could do only one of the jobs that I could do. Local Management and supervisors don’t seem to have a clue as to what they are doing, as long as they look good to the upper Management that’s all they care about, they could care less about those out here doing the actual work. They have the buddy program here, that is as long as they like you and you are willing to kiss their backsides then you will do good here.
