Pros

Flexible schedule, Vacation no longer tracked for exempt employee's but is still tracked for hourly employee's. Is bad for exempt employees unless you use the vacation you would have accrued with your tenor. Good for new employees, bad for those with over 10 years service where you use to get 5.2 weeks vacation and what ever you didn't use transferred to next year up to a certain amount of hours. Free coffee and free Tuesday lunch for now.

Cons

With all the mergers, 3 companies (WD, HGST and now SanDisk) there have been mass layoffs. Good engineers let go yet poor managers stay. It's the good ole boys club. I even heard that 1 director was patting himself on the back for how many people he let go. That's pathetic as he has lost touch with being a human being and having sympathy for those that got RIFed. Upper management has lost touch with the worker B's and relies on their directors for updates. They are now very top heavy with management levels. I know a couple groups who's entire departments were let go yet they added another layer of management to the groups to keep from laying off the managers???? That makes no sense and now the non managers left have to pick up the slack of the worker B's that were RIF'ed. Benefits have gotten bad when WD took over. Way higher deductible and coverage not as good yet upper managements tells you that they are industry standard. Really???? Not for a High Tech company, Try to keep up with the Apple's, HP's Google's and Amazon's in the High Tech Arena.

Pros

not a lot. Most colleagues are very friendly and happy to help when you need. Its products are still needed for many IT applications, PC, cloud, so the company is still very profitable.

Cons

Its technology is losing ground when competing with flash SSD. After buying Sandisk, the company will invest more money into flash and 3D NAND, rather than HDD. So, be prepared to see more layoffs like they did recently.
