Cons

Ok, I know that glassdoor in fact is not a good way to get the real review of the company since emloyee most likely right cons than pros here but I still would like to let others know what happens here. 1. Work life balance is ok based on team, but this not due to the company management but short of tech driven business. Company only focus on profit and cost saving, a lot of high end project got cut, most work just like normal upgrade and maintain, if you are young who have another 30 year or 10 year career, this will not be good, all you learn are out dated and lack of efficient. 2. Really low compensation, even less than some 20-50 small start up in South California, but if you search from the Bloomberg you will find the CEO's year payment is even higher than Tim Cook! Compare to the same level company, engineer got 30-40% less base salary, I think you can easily find out from the Glassdoor. 3. If you re thinking about the company's ER by adding 30% to the cost for payroll, you will find that in fact WDC is really bad in business, the high level management do bad in their job but they only known cut other employee's salary and lay off to make it as their "excellent job". They don't know the engineer, and only way they can communicate with the engineer is shouting and blame. They never thinking improve their work. Really bad. 4. Working environment is terrible, a lot of the engineer work in the underground, they can't see the sun shine all days when they are working, they can only stay with the computer with internet restrict access and big noisy electrical device. 5. No holiday or maybe something as the CEO said "Unlimited holiday". You can request holiday from your manager as many as you can if approved. I think everyone knows that you are already lucky enough if you don't need to work overtime as a EE or CS engineer. You can't got any holiday without the paid leave. The reason they cancel it only for cost saving. 6. Health insurance is bad, you still need to pay for almost 500$ each month by yourself and the policy is quiet poor coverage. 7. With all above Cons, the company culture become a environment with only blame and lack of responsibility. You won't got award when you make achievement but blame and lay off will come to you soon if you make mistake. No one want to take responsibility for the project, everyone request others do their best, people are feared to make new things and take extra work just feared for making unexpected mistake. Senior engineer just using the unknown word and request young engineer do the job even the senior engineer themselves don't known the result. And the purpose they doing so just want to get the chance to shouted to you release their pressures they got from their manager
