worst company ever to work

Pros

nothing to mention as pros.

Cons

too much nepotism in the company. If you are from India then you will flourish otherwise your chances to move up in corporate ladder is slim. Senior people try to take credit of things which they do not do and take bunch of RSUs for things which they never touched which creates frustration in lower ranks. Also recently WD announced no RSUs for folks at staff or lower level which makes no sense at all.

Pros

Interesting technical challenges. Good work life balance (if you work for media).

Cons

No visibility after HGST management took over post-integration in 2016. Extremely top heavy. Non technical program managers seem to be running the show for new technologies. Engineers from R&D barely get a chance to present in front of senior management. Too many former "people managers" behave like "technical leads" without contributing anything to the project and deliverables (they still end of making a lot more than other engineers who are actually hard working and come up with new and innovative ideas). Wonder how these people were not let go during the massive lay offs last year! Some of these non-performers have been with the company for almost 4 years now. All they do is prepare some excel sheets and spend the rest of their day walking around the building and talking on the phone. Do not expect any reasonable increments during ACR or promotion unless you have a competing job offer.

Pros

For the most part the people seem nice.

Cons

The benefits are terrible, you have to pay thousands out of your own pocket before they even kick in. The don't communicate very well on or for anything, The way they internally handled their most recent acquisition is incredibly sloppy. They messed up on job titles, integration the needed software applications to run the company, they have taken 90% of the perks away, and then want you to act as if it all runs smoothly
