      Early on,WM was great,then too top heavy with unrealistic productivity goals and safety rules.

      Pros

      Pay was fine. Benefits were one of the best in the industry. Benefits started to get expensive for a 11 Billion dollar a year company,though. Trucks were good,maintance was ok. At first,lots of room to improve your performence.

      Cons

      Company has policy to report every injury, I did, thats why i am a former employee. Company made every effort to keep me from returning to work. Productivity manager didn't have CDL, but did ride along to tell us what we were doing wrong. Too much favoritism to special employees. Company has deep pockets for management. At end,one mechanic for 25 trucks. Unrealistic productivity goals, example- why i took 2 minutes longer to get to landfill compared to other driver. Getting hurt,then losing bonus AND percentage of raise. NOT FAIR.

      Very stressful, and intimidating is the atmosphere at this company!

      Pros

      They will let you work as many hours a week as you want. You cna make very good money, but you will have to sacrifice time with family.

      Cons

      the drivers are the lowest on the totempole, and they do all of the work, and are paid. That is it. there is way to many managers and office personel. 20 years ago we had more customers (WORK), more drivers, and one tenth of the management team. we were a fortune 500 company back then. our job is very dangerous and difficult, but that is ok. It is the managers that will say and do anything for their bonuses, that spoil the workplace atmosphere.

      Pros

      Waste Management is great company, I love the fact that they are environmentally conscious, they think ahead, and we always try to be ahead of the compeition and find new ways to be innovative and getting value out of the trash that we collect.

      Cons

      Corporate berucracy, there is not enough room for creativity and management is fond of little details! Just your typical corporate America mentality, maximize profit and cut down all costs even freeze employees slaries (this happened in 2009 during the recession) to please the shareholders!
