Frantic growth leaves many things to be desired

Pros

Washington Federal does offer a steady paycheck and room to move around within the company. The break room is stocked with soups and crackers and fruits and beverages at no cost to the employee.

Cons

The steady paycheck is mediocre at best and initially employees were told it was because the company contributes heavily to your retirement. But the retirement contribution was scaled back about 80% and the pay remains the same. And yes, there is definitely room to move around but not up. If you advance your position from within the company, your pay will remain the same. If you quit and get hired on again with the advancement, then you salary will increase. The software used is from the 1980's although it has been upgraded periodically. This severe lag in technology has left many customers frustrated and ultimately they take their business elsewhere. Turnover is high in all areas.

Great Place to Work

Pros

The 401k is amazing and the leadership is just as good. I have the most sales driven position in the company and they don't make it stressful in the least. If your driven at all, you want to be successful and bring in the results no matter where you are. The bonus structure is a team bonus structure so it truly enforces the working together mentality. My direct boss is one of the best you can work with which is probably true for most of our top executives.

Cons

The individuals that complain about the salary yet fail to realize how mellow their job is. Sure you can go out and find a job that pays more but have fun work insane amounts of hours and being micro managed every second... No thanks

Good company, bad pay

Pros

Working at the branch level is a great experience. It is easy to balance work and personal life. Washington Federal is a great place to gain experience in the banking world. It is a solid 9-5 job with no weekends.

Cons

Horrible pay! Promotions are always lateral, even if you have been with the company for over ten years.
