Pros

Washington Federal is really a great company. The values they go by makes a significant difference in how they do business. I've seen a lot of different opportunities to advance. Its a typical 9-5 job, no weekends. Entry level positions are EXTREMELY low stress with hardly any foot traffic in some of the Utah branches.

Cons

Lower pay, however the bonuses are wonderful, depending on how your branch does. Communication between specific departments to branches is non-existent. There have been several times when Washington Federal will introduce a new product or service when it was not ready at all and caused many problems and questions for clients. There is hardly any foot traffic in some Utah branches which means low stress, but also means very boring.

Pros

Washington Federal really strives to be a great company to work for, and they are highly community-minded. Amen! They really seem to encourage employee advancement, plus management tries very diligently to act upon suggestions and concerns that employees bring to them.

Cons

The one downside has been lack of thorough training on Washington Federal's banking methods, but our branch was purchased from Bank of America by Washington Federal with a bunch of others so they really had their hands full at the time.

Pros

Love the work and life balance. I have been able to attend, with the help of my colleagues, most of my son's sporting events. I love the fact that we can buy some food for snacks as sometimes I forget to pack my lunch. I also like all of the interaction I have had with colleagues at every branch. It seems as if we have worked together for many years, even though it might only be months. We are getting a new system, which is most welcome. Finally, I like the fact that we have many branches in the 8 states, as eventually my family wants to move to the Vancouver area in Washington and hopefully I can transfer there.

Cons

One major obstacle, is finding the right balance of my workload and customer service. It seems that every task requires 7 steps, when I am used to only 2 or 3. Hopefully, the new system will fix this. Training seems to come by way of urgentency rather than importance. I really struggle with not knowing that I was to be doing something and wasn't because no one told me until our audit.
