Long hours and lots of politics

Pros

Amazing technology and smart coworkers at three major locations in US, Germany, and the head office in Tokyo.

Cons

Because of the three sites, there were frequent late night/early morning meetings, sometimes 3-4 hour meetings from 11pm-3am, and you're still expected to be at work during the "regular" hours as well.

Pros

Very highly regarding products in a variety of fun & interesting market segments. Relatively easy to get into customers and build rapport with them.

Cons

Company and employees used to be very loyal to each other. Some folks being there 15yrs +. This all changed with a huge re-org and all new mgmt about 2 yrs into my time there. Without pay raises and quotas raised every qtr, but continuously just out of reach enough that accelerators were never reached, compensation remains way below industry standard. Employee reviews suddenly became extremely critical, life became depressing. Nothing was ever good enough. Hours became longer and working weekends were necessary if not expected. Competition was ignored for too long, products shipped 6 mos- 1 yr after announcement and market saturation was already high. If new executives did not show adequate results, they were out within a few months, even after they moved their families. The company still has a loyal following of customers, too bad the executives no longer do.

Incompetence abounds

Pros

Some people are friendly and willing to help. Many of them are very knowledgeable.

Cons

After 6+ months of being flat out harassed by my immediate supervisor and trying to work it out with them; I finally made a formal complaint. Long story short: supervisor created a whole set of lies about me, and made everyone hate me. In the end HR made me sign papers acknowledging that I had to make things work out with my harasser and that I couldn't involve them anymore. I should have gone my own lawyer but they made me feel so bad that I just walked away.
