Pros

Walgreens is best known for it's Pharmacy. If Pharmacy is the career you are looking into then Walgreens is an OK place to get Pharmacy retail experience. The computer system is very helpful, but it is dull and mundane work.

Cons

Crappy hours, pissy customers, poor work/life balance, little respect. Like said before, OK place to work as a Pharmacist, but would not work there as any other job title. Also, expect to be worked like a dog. Walgreens does not care if you or your kids are sick. You are expected to be there when they want you there.

Pros

Strong leadership. Highly ethical. Hard working and dedicated employees who really are proud of being part of Walgreens. Leadership has taken head out of the sand and making difficult decisions and changes needed to continue to be successful and improve. Making changes BEFORE the wolf is at the door. More opportunity than ever coming with the reorganization.

Cons

Job descriptions old or non-existent. No clear career paths. Not enough post-hire training at corporate. Salaries average just below other companies. Not enough performance feedback to learn what you need to do better. Managers don't communicate enough to their employees.

Pros

Well, this company is very helpful and has a good future because it runs on a debt free company that does not owe too much money. Job security is the best reason to work for this company because it is a pharmancy retailer and the government will help out to make sure that it does whatever it can so it can keep running and making prescriptions for customers. It is a company with many stores and is continuing to open more every single year. Overall this is a pretty good company to work for and Walgreens will be around for a long while.

Cons

Some of the downsides of working in walgreens is that there are not alot of people around to help you complete your tasks. There are also too many outs in the store that leaves many customers unsatisfied with the products that are not in the shelf that were advertised on the ad. Managers alot of the times need to be overpaid stockers as their primary job because the company does not hire people for solely stocking perposes. Hours can be as early as 4 pm and as late as evening for some stores and 24 hours for others. The are open 365 days a year.
