      Good for lateral career moves and benefits, but has so many problems.

      Pros

      Great benefits, Aetna/VSP which I never had issue with. Most people are friendly and nice to work with.

      Cons

      Lack of investment and prioritization in tech. It’s definitely a retail-first company, so it’s super behind Amazon in terms of infrastructure and efficiency.

      Doesn't Understand Tech IS the Business

      Pros

      Very respectful environment; wonderful place to develop interpersonal communication skills. Very stable employer.

      Cons

      There is a large cultural/cognitive dissonance between the engineering org and "business" (retail) org. This leads to a great deal of internal tension as teams and areas compete for budget. Executive leaders come and go and so, too, do their "visions" for improving tech at Walmart. The reality is Walmart's legacy business model is struggling to keep up with an economy driven by companies that have embraced social and technological breakthroughs born out of continuous improvement/delivery.
