Employees are highly intelligent, capable and creative. There are some great things coming out of this division of Wasatch Photonics, Inc (Utah). Management is hands-off. Very casual office. Everyone works well together. 4 yr old start-up, lots of growth potential. 3 weeks vacation, can be flexible and work at home occasionally if you are able..
Cons
Management needs to take charge/initiative and really lead the team. No one likes to go to meetings, I know, but there should at least be a monthly meeting where the whole team can hear what is currently being worked on and what is in the pipeline. No clear idea of what values or actual company goals are. Management in Durham may not be on same page as Management in Utah.
Wasatch Photonics figured out how to make a transmission grating with good specifications. The technology is essentially obsolete but they might be able to carve out a miniscule niche with non-informed customers.
Cons
Top management have failed miserably at previous companies, and they are keeping their track record alive at Wasatch Photonics. Like most floundering technology companies they are hoping for a buy out, can it come before the bottom falls out?
