Pros

Great stepping stone for starting a career.

Cons

I am writing this to express my concerns about the toxic work environment that exists within The Wasserstrom Company and N. Wasserstrom. I have noticed several issues that are causing significant stress and discomfort for employees, including myself. I believe that these issues are a result of outdated human resource practices, inadequate pay wages, favoritism, inequitable vacation pay policies, male dominant leadership, and a harsh attendance policy. Firstly, the human resource practices within the company appear to be outdated and in need of review. This has resulted in a lack of transparency and communication regarding job responsibilities, performance expectations, and opportunities for growth and development. Secondly, the pay wages offered by the company are not competitive, causing financial strain on employees. Additionally, there is a lack of transparency in the process for determining salaries and raises, which contributes to a sense of unfairness and discouragement among employees. Thirdly, I have noticed favoritism within the organization, where certain employees receive preferential treatment or recognition, while others are overlooked or undervalued. This is creating a sense of resentment and division among employees, which is contributing to the toxic work environment. Fourthly, the vacation pay policy is inequitable, with some employees receiving more time off than others, and the process for requesting vacation time is unclear and inconsistent. This creates a sense of frustration and uncertainty among employees, which is further adding to the negative work environment. Additionally, the male dominant leadership structure of the company is contributing to a lack of diversity and inclusivity. This is making it difficult for female employees and other marginalized groups to feel heard and valued within the organization. Lastly, the attendance policy is unnecessarily harsh and punitive, causing unnecessary stress and anxiety among employees. The policy does not take into account extenuating circumstances and creates an environment of fear and mistrust.

First and foremost, I am disappointed regarding your feedback and experience. We have made a significant amount of progress, especially over the most recent 4 years. We have updated MANY Human Resources practices and continue to do so. We have enhanced benefits (even during Covid), and continue to do so. Of special mention, our time -off benefits are significant, especially for associate medical situations that are 4 days are longer (100%pay up to 4 weeks!) We have eliminated the out-dated "performance review" system and focus on a much up to date 'year-round" conversation model. We have updated many compensation plans and continue our work to review and compare market v. Wasserstrom, and update our practices. Regarding "male dominant leadership".... MANY women. They are involved in the leadership throughout the entire organization. Our overall eNPS scores have risen significantly and continue to improve. We are committed to our associates, our customers, and our company.

"Wasserstrom is not a high paying company"

Pros

Flexible schedules in many positions.

Cons

Managers have a tendency to repeat the phrase, "we are not a high paying company." The truth is that this is a low paying company. If you're going to work here, it's probably for the location or flexible hours.

Pros

The best thing I can say is I met a good number of people that weren't in management that were worth my time getting to know and make relationships with.

Cons

- Favoritism among management - Nepotism within the Wassterstrom family - Management doesn't care what you feel or think, don't bother being honest with them. - Health and vision benefits are pretty subpar.

Thank you for your time to provide a review of Wasserstrom. It is unfortunate that your experience was not a positive one. We are a privately owned Company, owned by the Wasserstrom Family. Any role a Wasserstrom Family member has, they are held accountable for results to both the Company and the family. As far as our medical & vision benefits, they are competitive and affordable . We do care about our associates very much, and welcome their feedback, ideas and suggestions. We have recently invested in the addition of a Director of Continuous Improvement who is working with various areas for process improvement. We've invested substantially in enhancing our systems to improve our business and service both internally and to our customers. Finally, we are #1 Family-Owned Company~ see Business First! Best wishes in your future endeavors.
