Pros

-Good starting pay, I was and continue to be the envy of my friends. I started $2 above minimum wage and for the first few years my raises were great but recently they've dwindled. -Work with your school schedule; I'd hand them my schedule and they would work with it. -If you have a good crew then your shift goes by fast and without hitches; but if it's a worthless group that can't do anything besides stand around then your work is cut out for you.

Cons

-Scheduling is horrible; there is no work-life balance unless you have a family. So, if you're single like me you're thrown on every late night shift and when asked for something else you're denied on the spot. -Shifts are run with skeleton crews; we constantly are working with two people on shift and can never get everything done. -Shift wars are common; day shift gets preferential treatment while other shifts are treated horribly by management and when asking the previous shift why something wasn't done you're given a snarky remark and told to deal with it. -Good luck getting your shift covered if you're sick; nobody will answer. I had swine flu one year and I still had to come in and would you look at that I spread it to three other people. -They're throwing more and more of a workload on the deli associates but not compensating appropriately or at least giving out the labor to put another person on for help. It's not exactly fun to bake bread while making ten sandwiches, five drinks, and you've got snacks and hot dogs beeping in your oven and nobody can help you. -oh and if you go out on disability you better be on top of that with HR because they will absolutely not hesitate to fire you without notice.

Pros

Customers, I have always been very much so a people person and you will have no shortages here. Having worked all shifts for years you get to know people on a very personal day to day basis and is definitely the best reason for working at wawa, I love my customers.

Cons

Management is very much so out for themselves in my experience, NOTHING is ever there fault, they will pin blame on you or anyone else in a second. Organization and efficiency are terrible, shifts aren't run well and a lot of things are left rolled over for other shifts thus bringing the whole store down. WaWa Callcenter is by far the worst help I've ever encountered in an HR department, they wont work with you in the least, and don't be under the impression they are there to help you, there job is to protect the company, the first time you call with issues they will immediately contact your manager and begin to try to discredit you. My store personally has a lot of people who cant be bothered to show up on time, yet never seem to get in trouble for it as well, that also get away with doing minimal work. On top of that while they say they like to promote from within, the last few years the company has done a majority of hiring from outside sources, atleast in the MD/VA area. The company has also slowly shifted away from customers first, to bottom dollar first as well, I understand the need to make money and be able to stay competitive, but it has come at the cost of the customers.

Pros

Good pay for the job that it is. Did not NEED college, but they have tuition reimbursment programs. They also train within very very well. I fully enjoyed working for the company while I did.

Cons

Same old drama that you have anywhere you work. SOME management truly doesn't do anything. If you are promoted within you will never get a DECENT raise and many people who are externally hired in start MUCH higher than you will ever get paid. Very aggravating when management team does not do anything but expects every part-time employee to bust their butts!
