Pros

Great benefits, good team members, immediate managers were always nice. CEOs seemed cool. Work from home was nice.

Cons

False promises, increased workload without increased pay, general inconsistency in pay, toxic positivity, inconsistency with training for new hires, and poor communication from overhead. Our job structure and expectations were also changed every 6 months or so and there were many times where there was no way of tracking our indirect orders so bonuses felt more like a low-ball guesstimate than an actual reflection of our work. In addition to the constant changes, any major issues reported to management were met with "we can't guarantee a fix" so most of our job was just putting up with issues that never should have been a problem in the first place. I don't even want to think about how much of our earnings were lost to engineering errors or managerial oversight. Any further criticism of said errors was met with non-answers or was shut down completely. We regularly had meetings for feedback on compensation as well as our chat platform however these meetings very rarely ever resulted in any positive change. Overall there is very little incentive to stick around for more than a year as there are few opportunities for growth and the few promotions that are available are based more on politics than merit. I am truly just disappointed. I really loved this job at the start but it just kept spiraling downhill for me.

Pros

Snacks... That's about all you get for pros

Cons

- You will work with a bunch of legacy code and stored procs - No clear pass for advancement and if you are not promoted in 3 years, you are fired - If you want to switch team, you need to get a person from your new team to join your old team, which makes it virtually impossible to swap teams. So if you end up in a bad team with bad management, that is your problem. - At the beginning of pandemic top management said that they understand that some people (especially parents) may get their performance decreased, as well as some people (mostly who live alone) will get their performance increased and in both cases that won't affect the performance review. In reality, if your performance dropped, you'd go on PIP and be fired. - The amount of PTO is very low and there are only 6 paid holidays in a year. - Before pandemic the work/life balance was ok, but when pandemic hit, the expectations went up. - Be ready for multiple reorgs a year. - Be ready to be moved to another teams without anyone asking you.

Pros

- great co-workers and some very smart people - snack wall - pretty office

Cons

Where do I begin... - Poor management in most parts of business who play favorites - Management puts everyone on a 5-point curve and anyone with a 4 or 5 will be forced out at some point - Lack of visibility into what the path for promotion or raise is (oh and btw the pay is VERY low compared to other firms in Boston area especially given the hours we work) - Professional development is a sad joke especially for a company this size - Good people are leaving for one reason or another. Senior leadership is mostly good old boys club or people who were "favorites" but know very little about managing teams and keeping morale high. No wonder turnover is so high.
