Pros

Good place to clock in, clock out, and collect a non-competitive, pretty average salary. Jobs are fairly stable. The benefits aren't terrible, but also not amazing. Middle management and most folks "in the trenches" are very knowledgeable, hard working, and passionate.

Cons

WellSky is built out of acquisitions, but very few of the products are actually integrated, leading to confusion for customers and even colleagues. Not only are the products not integrated, most of the teams aren't either. The integration process is so poor that most of these product teams still operate as separate, yet "internal" companies. Executive leadership is very disconnected, yet the organization is extremely top heavy. Remote employees, especially who came from acquisitions, are treated as second class to those working from the HQ office in Kansas. A lot of employee churn, several teams very understaffed, and burnout is very high. A lot of senior talent has left in the last 6-8 months. Leadership values sales targets over everything else, including the quality and security of the products. 5% performance bonus is absolute maximum unless receiving a promotion

Pros

WellSky is a great company with infinite growth opportunities. They pay well and provide fair return in benefits compared to the rest of the market.

Cons

Constant requests for employees to donate their own money to their foundation . The foundation is a great idea, but why is a company valued at 3 billion dollars with an EBITDA of 150 million asking for its employees to donate when they have not even provided a cost of living raise to to its employees in the midst of the highest inflation rates we have seen? All of this on top of the narrative that the company is growing and continually onboards staff in the hundreds. There is feeling that as the company succeeds and grows, it cares little to reward those who have helped it do so.

Great place to work unless you work in engineering.

Pros

- decent benefits aside from healthcare - middle management is great - People are passionate about what they work on - colleagues are both helpful and incredibly knowledgeable - raises and career opportunities are available to most groups - BU's outside of engineering offer competitive salaries and flexible hours - Great work from home options - CEO has walked back "cowboys and Indians" comments that were frequent metaphors of his. He has since embraced less offensive terms, and it's nice to see the CEO take criticism so well.

Cons

- for a healthcare company, their healthcare benefits are laughable - some BU's give strong preferential treatment to applicants with veteran status. This was bad enough that it became a running joke, and it was obvious the veterans in the group were given preferential treatment for raises as well. - Engineering salaries are not very competitive. - Since the onset of COVID, the feeling of community and inclusiveness has faded - Depending on the product you work on, expect to work long hours or be asked to cancel scheduled PTO to meet deadlines. - The immediate response from upper-management when hearing any sort of dissent is to reprimand and sweep it under the rug instead of having a conversation or fixing issues of concern. - Product and C-level executives are more concerned with the bottom line than the security of their products. We are not given the budget or time to fix security vulnerabilities, only told to work on new client integrations or new features that can be used to boost revenue. - It is taboo to talk or ask about colleagues who were suddenly terminated. Doing so has often been met with threats of reprimand or termination. - Executives attempt to track down authors of negative GlassDoor/Google reviews - Lots of turnover in engineering. Talent bleed is most likely caused by burnout.
