Pros

-Affordable health insurance, however this seems to be slowly changing.

Cons

-Unqualified, uneducated managers/leads/directors -Nepotism -Favoritism -Lateral violence -Racism -Dangerous work environment -Manager’s dad is on the board of directors and therefore she is untouchable even though she’s a bully. -Bullying -Sabotage -Managers gaslight employees when employees present concerns -Retaliation -Zero accountability- managers will allow staff to make med errors and bully people into quitting without consequences but will write up the next person for something petty -Corporate culture -Wellspan has a corporate business mentality and you will be a means to their end...money! They have a high turnover because the company does not focus on retention nor try to negotiate with employees who are considering other opportunities. -Human Resources works for Wellspan, not the employee. Don’t expect them to advocate for you because they’re main priority is protecting themselves. They will gaslight you. -Nurse driven- If you’re not a nurse, don’t expect to have any say in anything -Lots of committees with minimal actual change. -Dishonest leadership -Wellspan wants yes people instead of people who will advocate for what’s right for the patient. -Managers will block you from advancement, transfer, etc if you complain about them or confront them about unit issues -Educational assistance is poor. Read the fine print or you’ll end up signing your future away. -Company uses token black people and racial minorities in advertising when in reality the workforce is not diverse. -Would rather hire cheap staff than experienced staff -Discouraging and disheartening workplace- I began to dread work and left the company so defeated that I wasn’t sure I even wanted to work in healthcare anymore. -Drama -Outdated facilities and equipment -Poor security and parking options

Employed Physicians, Beware!!

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Average reimbursement pay for the region

Cons

Terrible, heavy-handed, inbred, non-physician friendly upper administration. They boast on their job sites about 'low physician turnover' but have fired more physicians who would not toe their line than ANY other health system I have been experienced with! WellSpan had virtually NO COMPETITION for over 40 years and was caught totally asleep at the wheel while UPMC parked itself right in its front yard and is now left scrambling! This health system will be merged into a larger system in 5 years and all the administrators will get their payday at the expense of the providers and patients! DO NOT BECOME AN EMPLOYED PHYSICIAN OF THIS SYSTEM!!
