Pros

I have had the chance to work with WBMI for the last 2 years, specifically with a number of the IT management Team. The one constant that has remained true and why I believe WBMI is a great place to build your career is the people and passion for what they do. It's a certain level of energy and mindset that differentiates West Bend - nobody sees themselves working in "Information Technology" or "Accounting" - everyone works in the Insurance industry playing their part and working towards the same organizational goals. It's been really exciting to see the continued success over the last few years - which is a result of improved communication on various business objectives, department needs (technical & cultural), and the willingness to address difficult situations/issues to achieve a certain goal. WBMI realizes when someone is 100% bought in and looking to improve themselves, and in turn, the team as a whole.

Cons

There has been a number of reviews that have mentioned the commute to West Bend - I have a tough time accepting that as a actual con. The drive from MKE is roughly 30 minutes which is significantly less than in other cities. Also, WBMI has been very flexible allowing employees to tailor their commute around the "rush hour".

Pros

It's one of the biggest employers in Washington County. It is a respected company in the P&C insurance industry and attempts to be cutting edge in its technology.

Cons

It is a high pressure environment with little potential for advancement. You are just a number here, a tool to be used by upper management to advance their own agendas. It used to be a great place to work back in the 90's. Management has grown in size and increased the disconnect between it and the employees. The work/life balance is gone.
