Pros

The Richmond facility is WORLD CLASS. It's the most beautiful place I've ever worked. Right on the James River, I discovered my love of outdoor activity and nature just by proximity to such a picturesque location. I feel a sense of pride every day I arrive. It's a fairly new all-glass building that let's in so much light. If you can break away from your desk for a while (hard to do) you can take a walk on Brown's Island or Belle Island. And the gym onsite is almost as good as a health club. I actually would have quit years ago but it's hard to give up such a beautiful and convenient perk.

Cons

The company doesn't have a real growth strategy other than "buy more companies." There's no organic growth. So every time they bolt on another company, the culture gets more and more convoluted and schizophrenic. The most recent schizophrenic addition was the merger between Rock Ten and MWV in 2015. The morale was tense before the merger and it became bleak after. I think the problem is in an out of touch leadership team. It's as if your dad's bowling buddies got together and decided, on a whim, to start a company. The fact that we're a $16B company is bewildering to me considering how little confidence the leadership inspire. I sometimes sit in our big town hall meetings shaking my head at how clueless and out of touch senior management is. There's definitely a "good ol' boy" culture. If you're not someone who is "favored" it's probably not gonna be a good place to work. And women? Forget about it. The level of misogyny is truly disgusting. Go to our website and click on "Leadership Team" and you'll understand just what I mean. I'm not advising people not to apply. It CAN be a good place to work depending on your department. But, beware that you should negotiate HARD for the best possible compensation you can up front because you'll likely not get much in the way of pay raises and other comp afterwards.

Pros

Lots of exciting things are happening in IT with digital transformation and many other projects which provides lots of learning opportunities to people. Many people work extremely hard to make the organization successful.

Cons

Great leaders have been let go for really bad reasons and to hide HR mistakes. And really bad leaders are still in their positions. The CIO needs to dig deep and find out what is really happening...he is losing lots of good people because they miss their strong leaders and don't want to work for the ones in place now. Little to no work/life balance and poor HR support.

Pros

Decent pay, that's about it

Cons

Nearly everything. I imagine it varies from plant to plant but this is the worst place I have ever worked. Management does not care about employees at all even though they preach about us being one big family. Work nearly every weekend, and every single holiday often times working 12 hours a day so if you have friends, family, or anything outside of work that you enjoy doing or seeing then this place is not for you. No matter how hard you work or how hard you try to make production goals it is never good enough. We are never recognized for anything good but the minute we make a mistake or our numbers fall off you'll be sure to hear about it.
