Pros

Western National has a unique and positive culture. Which is why so many employees stay for decades. It is why I came back. After working for this company for several years in the late 90's/early 2000's, I left for other opportunities. I don't regret that decision, because it gave me the opportunity to experience the insurance industry from different perspectives. Most importantly, it gave me context. I could clearly see from the outside, that no other company has the kind of of "people first" culture that Western National has. Since returning, I've been impressed with the advancements in technology, processes and the doubling-down on our culture of kindness. Most notably I have noticed: - Deliberate and careful decision making. There is a process to collaborate, develop and decide how and what to implement, knowing that changes affect employee's workflow and job satisfaction. - Constant and comprehensive communication. This company prides itself on being as transparent as possible to keep internal and external customers informed. They understand that communication is a skill that requires constant work. - Focus on the Customer Experience. Western understands that its employees are customers too. Customers of the effort that it takes to run a successful company. By nurturing a positive culture, our external customers experience the benefit of employees that love working here. The Power of Nice is infectious!

Cons

As the company grows, there are challenges with keeping that "small company feel". Adding new faces means more and more opportunities to get to know each other. There is constant effort to bring people together, across departments and locations to facilitate this.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We are pleased to read your many positive comments about working at Western National. We truly believe that our culture is one of the distinguishing factors that sets us apart from our competitors, so we are glad to hear that you recognize the value that it brings to our organization. As you mentioned, we strive to be deliberate and communicative in our decision making so that all employees are well informed. We are glad to hear that our actions align with those intentions. As we continue to grow, we are actively looking for ways to continue fostering that “small company” feel. With activities like our monthly mingles and company-wide town halls, our goal is to continue to build and maintain relationships with our co-workers. We also evaluate our PTO program each year and have added an additional floating holiday for 2023 to become more competitive and to support our employees in the ways they choose to celebrate their days off. We are always looking for feedback on areas in which we can improve and appreciate your comments! If you are willing, we encourage you to contact us directly at HRmail@wnins.com.
