Pros

Work from home some days, easy work, basic help desk stuff.

Cons

Incredibly boring, absent raises, absent leadership and training. Awful office culture. If you wanna be like the guy from Incredibles in a cubicle all day this is the place.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that your experience working at Western National did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide an engaging and meaningful work environment to our employees, and we are saddened to hear that you did not experience that during your time at Western National. In order to stay competitive with market trends, we assess our compensation package throughout the year. Merit increases are managed annually with a formal review process and are dependent on experience and performance of the individual. We are always looking for additional feedback on areas in which we can improve. If you are willing, please contact us directly at HRmail@wnins.com.

Confusing company with poor leadership

Pros

Western is the strangest company i had ever worked for. Certain departments are run really well, which is why you get such mixed reviews. In general, western tries to treat employees fairly. Amenities such as Insurance,401k, work from home is decent.

Cons

It's on the technology side that this company falls flat. The I.T. Department seems to be unable to get out of firefighting mode. The entire I.T. department knows their entire technology structure and methodology needs an overhaul from the ground up, yet for some inexplicable reason nothing really changes. This is why the company has seen an uptick in resignations. Replacement for these positions is going to be difficult because their pay scales are not even close to current market salaries.

We appreciate the time you took to leave your review. We are pleased to hear that you believe Western National treats our employees fairly. Western National recognizes that our employees are one of our biggest assets, and we hope that every employee knows that they are appreciated. In the past few years, we have been investing significantly in our IT organization. As with any large-scale change, we are still experiencing growing pains and recognize that there is more work to be done. Our dedication to the various system overhauls and process improvements demonstrates our commitment to creating an enhanced experience for our customers and employees, including our IT Teams. As you mentioned above, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes insurance discounts, a 401k plan, flexible working arrangements, and much more in order to stay competitive from a total compensation package perspective. We are always looking for additional feedback on areas in which we can improve. If you are willing, please contact us directly at HRmail@wnins.com.

This company walks the talk

Pros

Rather than hiding behind clever slogans, Western National takes its vision to heart: "The Relationship Company" "To act with integrity in the service of others." "Nice" It's been 25 years since I've worked for a company that had this level of honest commitment or caring and responsibility to its employees, its customers, and the community. It's a Minnesota gem.

Cons

P&C Carriers aren't known for moving fast or being on the bleeding edge of technology, and Western National is no different. There are a number of legacy (90s?) systems and processes still in place, and it will be many years before they're finally modernized.
