Pros

This is a very good company with knowledgeable people and strong work ethics. The management is supportive of their employees and are not quick to lay anyone off, even during the recession of 2009.

Cons

Average pay, when I was hired out of college I was informed during my interview that other large construction firms will pay more, but WT values its employees better (absolute truth). Long work hours and large work loads are expected and not rewarded, be prepared to work at any hour of any day, weekends included if you are on a job site.

Pros

They have all kinds of projects across the country. Individual offices seem like their own small businesses. Great medical benefits and stock/profit sharing. Yearly merit-based raise and end of job bonuses.

Cons

You will wear more hats than you ever thought imaginable, even if you're coming from another GC. Support team resources are not used well, resulting in PM/Supers on the hook for every single need for multiple projects at a time. WT really pitches cradle to grave mindset - hire kids immediately out of college and keep them there until retirement. Their most recent CEO worked at the company for 75 years until his literal death. They hang their hat on 'gold star' medical benefits in exchange for under-market pay, but really most other GCs have the same benefits with higher salaries. Construction in general has long hours (working late nights, weekends, etc.) but WT does not compensate for those hours. Towson office (headquarters) is VERY old fashion compared to their other offices with regard to hours and promotions. There's a lot of politics if you want to switch location or group, and you can get pigeonholed into specific markets depending on your group leader. A good company to get your feet wet with but there are more modern companies with better opportunities.
