Strong decline

Pros

Good reputation when first starting

Cons

Extremely low pay and overworked. Upper Management will lie to you about false promises in order to retain people and claims that they offer things other companies don’t have. Overall company is on a strong decline especially since older employees don’t care about people or how the company does since they already have part ownership.

Pros

Stability- they hardly ever lay anyone off and will keep you busy thru slow times. diversity of people is good. many different types of projects to work on in several different fields.

Cons

- you are just another number - lots of micromanagement - work life balance is not very good - 'dont forget about the cover page to your tps report other wise there will be consiquences.' checklists for checklists in this company and paperwork for days. - be prepared to waste hours using an archaic computer software system that crashes constantly and erases your data

Pros

- Great place to learn the ropes of construction. - Whiting-Turner does many complex, high-visibility projects. - There are many employees at the company that have worked 20+ years for WT. - They have a solid reputation within the industry.

Cons

- long hours (typical of construction) - younger employees are treated as if they are completely disposable. The company will hire 20-30 PEs every year expecting half of them to leave within a few years. Weekends, late nights, etc will fall to the least experienced employees for months on end. - Company is very slow to change and adapt to new technologies. - Very old-school company. "My way or the highway" leadership style. - Long term benefits are provided but salary, PTO, and further learning opportunities are below industry standard.
