Interesting Projects with Long hours

-Opportunity to work on very large, interesting construction projects. -Normal pay for industry -Stability and good long term benefits -Strong company culture, with history and prestige within industry

Cons

-Long hours and weekends are expected of you -Lack of HR, boys club mentality could be frustrating for some -Military style of promotion, seems like people are often rewarded for time spent at the company rather than performance. -Average vacation time that is hard to take

Very nice healthcare package. Most people are very nice and great to work with.

Cons

Salary not as competitive, work/life balance is awful, and speaking about the poor work/life balance to the wrong supervisor can get you in trouble.

Pros

The entrepreneurial spirit drives Whiting-Turner. The company is not broken into departments like a typical GC. With no precon/estimating/accounting/closeout department the PM is immersed in every part of the process. The training is sufficient, but if you'll be expected to take a project from conception to close out.

Cons

You have to fit the culture. Being able to make a decision and learn from mistakes is a hallmark trait of the best Whiting-Turner PMs. You're going to be throw in the deep end.
