Pros

- health insurance free for single employee - new 401k match competitive with up to 8 % company contribution - completes work in a variety of construction markets geographically as well as types of buildings

Cons

- long hours with very little recognition for those who do the most. Often field staff averaging 10-12 hours a day while office staff is at 7-8 - field staff treated as second class compared to office staff - promotions based on tenure and little to do with employee skill or work output - very little accountability due to no human resource department - little internal training - severely under paid / compensated compared to direct competitors in the same market - retirement benefits never a defined value, always told to trust and the company will provide - much of leadership acts as good ole boys club - zero work life balance even compared to competitors. Weekend work not compensated for with another day off.

Pros

If you like working with them and spend your entire career with them, you'll have a great retirement. If at any point, you leave them before retirement age, you'll lose all their retirement benefits.

Cons

If you want to work 50-60 hours a week, weekends sometimes (salary so you're not compensated for anything over your base wage), under stressful conditions, over budget and past schedule, and not have a 401k match, then this job is for you! Think twice before committing to working full time with WT. They built their reputation years ago. They USED to be a great general contractor (GC), now they're an average construction manager (CM). Things are way too corporate now. Safety is so strict you can't get the job done. Your upper manager will breathe down your neck with every move you make. You get thrown into the wolves (which is a good way to learn) but you get chewed out for making a mistake. Honestly, I wish I had known better.

Pros

Great company to start with Looks good on a resume Large scale and high profile projects Decent benefits

Cons

Long hours with frequent weekend work and overtime. No training you'll need to figure it out as you go and bosses will tell you that. The company is growing to fast and almost all project and operating groups are under staffed. Large work load with little help. Relocation is all but certain. You won't have a life outside work because the job consumes you. Don't be fooled by their golden carrots nearly all the good benefits are only attainable after working there 30 yrs +. In the meantime you'll be burning yourself out physically and mentally. If you don't have an absolute love for construction and don't mind the negatives aspect of the job don't work there. You won't be doing what you went to school for. If you're work as an office guy (pm or pe) you're pushing paper, putting lots of fires out, and your basically a lackey for your boss. If you work as a field guy (super or fe) your basically babysitting subs and trying to meet unrealistic scheduling targets.
