Under president Kathy Murray, Whitman went off the political deep end. It has always been a liberal leaning place, but the most recent administration had a far left political agenda and force fed this to students, staff and faculty. Under Murray the College alienated itself from the comparably conservative Walla Walla community, from some of its most financially supportive alumni, and any other person who stepped on campus and gave voice to moderate or conservative viewpoints.
This has become an institution mired in political group think. As an alumnus, would not send my child to Whitman in it's current state.
Oh, and for a school that charges well over $70k in cost of attendance, the compensation for staff positions is embarrassingly low. The local junior college offers better pay and benefits for staff.
