As for my own experience as an employee, these things come to mind: (1) Management -- my own and those around me -- did not seem to grasp the basics; for example, it was repeatedly made clear to me that managers did not know the FLSA status of their subordinates, and were unaware of changes in FLSA law in the past ten years. (2) Interviews - Extraordinary resources were expended on ordinary job interviews. Dozens of people were involved and whole departments participated in group q&a sessions for relatively low-level positions. And did this extravagant expenditure of human resources yield outstanding results? I don't think so. I suspect that many candidates went away feeling they were not treated with respect and having a lower general option of Whitman College.

I would like to be paid more and be able to attend annual professional conferences yearly to help with creating a professional network and to get training in trends in the field of career development
