Pros

It's really hard to get fired from here because nobody knows what they are doing in IT.

Cons

IT management rely too much on a think layer of clueless middle management. This layer suppress ideas from below or take credit for them. Often letting go of experience people in favor of their buddies. Their motto is do the right thing, but nobody does and it frustrates the real IT professionals to leave the company. They waste many millions on IT projects that are just thrown in the trash. Management will consider it a WIN, go out to dinner, celebrate, then throw away the product and blame an engineer. If you have mental health issues, HR will make it seem okay, but your manager will make your job impossible so you quit. Don't report any MH issues if you want to stay.

Pros

Good benefits and fair salaries overall Company provides good work/life balance support.

Cons

Company management lacks in thier ability to assess and discipline employees. Rewards are given out to employees who excel but also to the undeserving. Direct discipline is non existent. Mistakes and laziness are dealt with by generalizing fault and spreading it across the entire department instead of detecting and isolating weak links directly. Hard workers are expected to pick up the slack while the unmotivated are ignored and undisciplined, perhaps out of ignorance or fear??

Tough place to work after ETE merger failure

Pros

The individual resources are very close and work together very well. It is a close nit community but it's getting tougher to keep it that way as management is doing their best to discontinue that type of environment.

Cons

Williams management is open about discussing "age" of their employees and discriminating on age for internal transfers between IT departments. I hear, "We are looking for younger." quite often from managers. There is poor leadership right now from the CIO down through the directors to managers. They are too far down in the weeds and do not see the bigger picture. Work/Life balance is preached, but not practiced, especially in IT. Management leads by intimidation and fear. The leadership is very IBM like with dress code, removal of work/life balance perks like work from home and management style.
