Pros

Great Company that is doing an awesome job building an infrastructure based on refreshingly simply core values. TransferWise encourages a collaborative environment. They not only embrace contributions from every team member at any level, they expect it. There are both personal and professional growth opportunities at Transferwise. My interview process was the most unconventional interview to date, and the most energizing. The Leadership Team is impressive and very hands-on, including a final interview with one of the founders - a wonderful opportunity, in my opinion.

Cons

Due to the inherent nature of a "start-up" environment, many traditional processes are still evolving. Iterations of training programs are on-going and still have room for improvement. (This could also be considered a "pro" depending on your perspective.)

Pros

New company, nice office with snacks

Cons

They will fire people for the smallest issues. Out of a training class of nearly 20 folks, maybe 1-2 will stay longer than 6 months (AT MOST). Many training classes go through where nobody makes it longer than a couple months and team management will readily admit this. Lots of the long term employees staged a walk out less than a year ago. They also fired the entire Tampa office with 0 notice, literally locked them out one day and said don't come back.

Pros

- Annual "Wise Days" trip to Estonia. Probably going to be phased out - Some of the developers are good - Attractive new Austin office

Cons

- Toxic work environment. Management bullies people into talking badly about others behind their backs - Employees are often fired without notice and with no severance, even if they are on work visas - Management is inexperienced and consistently makes bad business decisions, costing the company millions - Middle management walks around in suits every day showing off their rolexes, while most of the employees (customer service) are making minimum wage - Company is trying hard to be a FAANG, but doesn't understand marketing, and doesn't pay enough to attract decent talent
