Small firm, family feel

Pros

Top notch Research shop that has grown in size and rankings but has maintained a small firm, community based culture. People are smart, energetic, engaged and most importantly kindhearted. Wolfe is a true meritocracy - if you are a strong performer and have the firepower to go above and beyond, you will be recognized and rewarded accordingly.

Cons

Culturally, this is not a firm for those who prefer a slower paced environment or who prefer to do the minimum that is required in a role.

Pros

Better research than most on the street, three monitors at office, the $25 meal credits for staying late. There are still some good hearted decent people to commensurate with when times get tough.

Cons

Banking hours without banking pay, churn and burn associates, zero benefits (no employer 401k contribution), woke cultured and no room for opinions, less remote work flexibility than others. Bad apples in management position: users of people.

Pros

I worked at Wolfe Research last year. Worked there for multiple years. Wolfe is a fast-paced work environment. People work really hard. The hours can be long but it is really rewarding and it really helped push me to be my best. If you come with a good work ethic you will be recognized and rewarded. Wolfe is small enough where if you work hard, you will stand out. Over the last few years Wolfe has clearly improved training procedures and they have added some structure for associates to get up to speed on things like accounting and Excel. Each analyst team is different but it seems to me that the analysts there really take pride in developing associates. The CEO is also the founder (Ed Wolfe) and he has made a big push in recent years to improve diversity and inclusion. The culture is unique and people really get along well. People there seem to generally be rowing in the same direction. Overall I would say Wolfe is a fantastic place - you will be pushed hard, and if you are good you will probably have internal opportunities for growth. If not, you will be better prepared for a top notch finance job somewhere else, as was the case for me. Most people that leave Wolfe leave for very strong job opportunities.

Cons

Again there are long hours involved for most associates, which isn’t for everyone. Analysts are usually pretty direct with their associates and you need a thick skin sometimes. I’d say if you can take direct feedback well, it’ll be great. Just need to be sure you communicate well with your boss. There has also been some turnover lately, but usually it’s because people are leaving for bigger time jobs - not many people taking steps backward when they leave.
