Pros

Wolfe Research is an extremely entrepreneurial firm and if you perform well you will be compensated for it. If you are passionate about equity research and have aspirations of becoming a senior analyst or advancing to the buy-side this is a good place to be. The senior employees at the firm are open to mentoring junior employees at the firm, however you need to show initiative in seeking this mentoring out.

Cons

The hours at Wolfe are long and it is a small firm, so if you do not perform well there is no place to to hide. The technology is pretty archaic but the firm is working on improving it. Pay and benefits are below street average.

Pros

I'm a former employee leaving research but if I was staying in the business, I wouldn't want to do research anywhere else. Research comes first at Wolfe. It drives everything Wolfe does. You can get really creative with how you want to run your franchise as a lead. As an associate or a young analyst, it's great to be able to learn from the company's roster of top analysts. The best part about Wolfe was that it is a meritocracy. In my experience, whenever I was ready or had earned more the opportunity was given to me. Additionally, associate training has really improved since I started at Wolfe.

Cons

The cons aren't that unique to Wolfe - as an associate your work hard. That's just how it goes in research. Research is a tough business that has been in decline, but Wolfe continues to take share of a shrinking pie.
