Pros

Cafeteria food was good with a subsidized affordable price. Great place to work if you have absolutely no other options. They’ll hire anybody.

Cons

Awful work environment with clueless management and disconnected “team” atmosphere. Company goals change every month so they never actually achieve what they set out for.

Pros

Decent benefits. As much OT as you want. Ok company amenities as long as you’re on day shift. Willing to pay relocation for some candidates.

Cons

Entry level employees receive more pay increases than the experienced employees. Disorganized. Understaffed. Inadequate safety training for new employees. Unsafe storage of chemicals with no follow through on making necessary changes. Missing manuals for most equipment creating employees to make bubblegum fixes resulting in more equipment failures than necessary. Night shift workers can’t utilize any company amenities as they close at the end of day shift. No yearly bonuses as advertised during application and interviews. “Quarterly” reviews are maybe once a year. Lack of quality control.

Pros

I worked at Cree for three years right out of college. At the time I left the company I was frustrated with a lot of the operations in the wafer fab. But looking back on the experience, it was a really great opportunity right out of college and I'm glad I spent three years there. The engineering managers and leads in the wafer fab trust the engineers to make important decisions that affect production. Even right out of college, a lot of responsibility was given to me and the other young engineers working there. The company provides an invaluable learning experience. You learn engineering skills and professional skills. Most of all, you learn to take on difficult challenges. Mistakes are inevitable. The managers were great at holding you accountable while also standing by your side.

Cons

It seemed like the operators and techs that spent all day on the manufacturing floor were never given the credit and the respect they deserved for the work they put in. I hope that's changed.
