Pros

Remote Work Pretty Flexible Nice Bonus & Standard CLI Raise

Cons

HUGE Micromanagement Problem Unattainable KPI Dismissive & Rude senior leadership "Scare" you to do better This company lured in many with promises of remote work and rewarding customer engagement. In all honesty, dealing with the management and end users has been a nightmare. A new management team came in and made unreasonable KPIs telling employees if we didn't like them then "maybe it's time to look elsewhere" Who says that to employees who took care of everything while managers took off for weeks during the holidays. The job itself is not hard at all, management makes it 10X harder by adding metrics, workforce management, user satisfaction requirements, and data data data as a daily priority. Constantly told that anything we do is messing up data and that is why we cannot hire more people to support the team. MICRO MANAGEMENT - If you are looking for a job where someone is looking over you 24/7 then this is the spot. I have never been to a company where reviewing how someone "handled" an interaction took so much time and energy away from other tasks. 30-day training to be brought on board fully only for 20 days of the training to be useless for the actual job. Watched videos and articles on how to use the product only for none of that to matter when the customer base is used to instant and unreasonably quick support. If you are in IT and looking to take this job I would probably go somewhere else.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Investing in our people is a top priority, which is why we continue to provide annual salary increases and bonuses for employees and a “work where you work best” approach to workplace flexibility. We’re grateful that those factors have been positive for you. As our company grows and evolves, we recognize that employees feel the changes and for many, it’s difficult (and often frustrating) to navigate. We’re sorry to hear this has been your experience. The examples you provided have been very helpful and we will share your feedback with the leadership team.

Pros

Mostly good people who are very collaborative and willing to help others succeed.

Cons

The culture isn't as strong as the claim and is continuing to suffer as the company is growing and changing processes to try to keep up with the big dogs. I have seen many good people get terminated without any substantial and documented reasons. It seems often to be the managers opinion, and supported by HR, that the employee is not doing things the "Workiva way", regardless of their success. Management will often come up with reasons to substantiate the termination that are baseless. I and many others know that we need to "watch our backs" and play the game as any one of us could be next. It is discouraged to be an independent thinker and step outside of the box. Additionally, the company expresses their strong DEI stance, but there are very few employees of color and minimal diversity. This is a highly white-dominated culture, even though they try to hire a Hispanic, black or Asian periodically to give the image of being diverse. The products are also very limited in their scope and capability. If they do not come up with ways to offer more, the company will quickly be surpassed and even become irrelevant by the larger companies like Oracle and Microsoft, who will continue to refine the current competitive products and dominate the landscape. The CEO is great, but once he leaves, which I can't imagine will be too far out, I can see this company quickly being gobbled up and spit out. The increase in revenue will soon taper off as companies are beginning to recognize the inflated prices for the minimal return. Many of the most successful reps will leave as their quotas continue to climb and achieving these gets more and more out of reach. Just like the housing market, the quota bubbles will burst and there will be a need to adjust to fix for this.

This year, Workiva rose to the #20 spot on the Top 100 Best Workplaces list by Great Places to Work. Bottom line - it’s about progress not perfection, and we’re committed to our continued improvement to being a great employer. We’re proud of our culture. It’s driven by our company values of customer success, innovation, trust, integrity, inclusion, and accountability. These values are present in everything we do as a company - from how we take care of our employees to how we serve our customers and communities. Here is some of the feedback we received from employees via this year’s survey: 95% of employees responded positively to the statement: “Management is honest and ethical in its business practices.” 94% of employees responded positively to the statements: “Management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulder” and “People here are given a lot of responsibility.” Additionally, Workiva employees said that our customers would rate the service we deliver as "excellent.” 93% said: Management is approachable, easy to talk with and competent at running the business. Your feedback is important to us. Please reach out to humanresources@workiva.com if you’d like to follow up further.

Poor management and low pay

Pros

Workiva offered many coding challenges and you will grow in your technical skills there.

Cons

Workiva often makes technical designs in a top down approach. My team had very little autonomy and we were under appreciated. We had very little input into technical decisions or architecture. Successes were rarely celebrated. Management seemed more interested in how we made him look and had little interest in building us up. The pay was low considering the difficulty of the programming we had to do and the scope and scale of our code base and problem set. Management would get upset if you disagreed with them and this resulted in having to lie to management to make them happy.
