Pros

Some of their non-fiction books are really great!

Cons

Avoid this place at all costs! They have horrible leadership and even worse management. If you want a huge misstep in your sales career with zero growth and absurd goal setting along with unfair and unkind treatment of it's employees then give WB a shot....otherwise, regardless of what they promise you in the beginning (larger territory, fair goals, skills developing, sales support, company culture, etc...) RUN!

We have experienced some management turnover in a few divisions as we've changed the direction and focus of World Book. Turnover rates are exceptionally low in 2016. Lack of opportunity for advancement is just not true--there have been many, many internal promotions at World Book in 2015 and 2016 (my comment only speaks to activity in my tenure; however, I know there are many to note before this time period, also).

Pros

Great old company with lots of history. Cool co-workers who excel at their jobs. Making a product that legitimately makes peoples lives better.

Cons

VERY poor compensation compared to market rates. Huge exodus of talent over the course of the last few years. Company is having a very hard time adapting to market changes. Management does not seem willing to invest in either it's employees or new products, instead cutting spending to achieve profit. Limited opportunity for advancement
