Pros

Often your experience depends on who you report to. I have been lucky to have great leadership.

Cons

Since it is Christian people are hesitant to give valuable feedback in a straight forward manner.

Pros

If integrating your Christian values with your professional career is important to you, than World Vision could be a great career move. Teams have daily devotionals together, chapel every week, and they are world-class when it comes to stewarding resources with integrity and building sustainable communities for the poor. Retirement benefits include both a 403b with a decent company match and a pension. Most companies no longer offer pensions, so having both is definitely a big plus to meet your retirement goals. Good work life balance, with fairly flexible work hours and work from home days (not all departments tho).

Cons

Unfortunately I've had some poor managers (not all), in my six years I've had over four managers, and most of them lacked the skills to be leaders who could guide strategic initiatives and be proactive in nurturing your career growth. The company needs to invest in training managers to be good leaders. Due to World Vision having multiple different sub-brands, with separate goals by department, it creates a lot of silos within the company. As a result, it is hard to unify as a brand and collectively focus on integrated initaitives with the highest value. Lack of diversity in ethnicities and age specifically at the U. S headquarters in Federal Way. The majority of staff are white and older (40 -60), and either have only worked at World Vision their entire career, or come with years of experience and come to World Vision to work till retirement. Higher turnover with young professionals due to not having as much career growth opportunities available.
