Pros

I spent 15 years at WorleyParsons. My time was split between two CEO's. John Grill who kept the company as an Engineering Firm. Andrew Wood who does not have a clue or is listening to clueless leaders around him. Mr. Wood's ideas of turning WorleyParsons into a Consulting Firm utilizing engineering "Sweat shops" in the far east has done nothing but wreck the company that John Grill created. My last 4 major projects with WorleyParsons were ended by the client because they were disgusted with the business model and the lack of a strong engineering presence within the company. The only Pro that I can comment is that I was lucky to work under the management of John Grill.

Cons

The company is in a spiral downward. Benefits are being cut, working hours changed, no coffee or tea in an effort to save money. The Business Development Team does not know how to secure the everyday engineering work required for every plant in the world. They just keep looking for the big capital project. The local Houston Senior Management Team is more focused on keeping the young just out of college engineers (lower pay) than they are the more senior engineers and managers (higher pay). It is almost obvious that pay and age discrimination is happening in Houston.

Pros

Coworkers, 4 day work week, remote access, fast paced environment.

Cons

The founding CEO retired and the one in place now continues to support outdated business strategy's that have failed the company, the customers, the employees and their families. There is zero accountability at management level. They have no ability to observe where others have failed, they simply repeat the steps and wonder why it isn't working for them. The current CEO has even acknowledged that they can't react quickly enough to the market changes. Some high profile jobs have been PR disasters regarding lawsuits, and they think outsourcing will save the company even though that has already proven wrong. But, the senior management in Australia always knows better than everyone else. As long as their friends get the new jobs and they keep getting their bonuses, they are happy to keep preaching the company line that this is to be expected and everything will be OK. Too many long time employees have been let go only to be replaced by "outsourced personnel" that management hand picks. IT is a shining example of that along with accounting, payables and even a lot of HR. Disaster! The operations are run horribly, the environment is now work double hard for no recognition and no pay increase. Management wants you to sit back and watch company money be spent in a wasteful manner, while you never get a raise.
