- Money taken out of your wages for what they call ‘free issues’ happened to everyone at some point. It could be from anything from a mistake on a plan or a fitter that had fitted something incorrectly and blamed it on a design fault when it clearly wasn’t. - perverted managers especially with the young girls -Long working hours often working over or coming in on days off - Constantly being pulled off breaks to the point you would feel the need to go out of the premises to avoid this happening. 1 girl ended up having to leave because she lost a baby as they wasn’t letting her have her breaks as she should have. She was treated so poorly. - Very very high turn over off staff - if you wanted to take holiday it would often be denied as there are many block outs such as busy periods where no staff are allowed it at that time. - CAMERA in the staffroom, not even sure if that is legal? - managers had no clue what they were doing. Rotas were constantly messed up. Managers would walk around swearing, often delivering threatening team briefs as the whole company is money driven on targets. You could tell when the managers had a telling off from head office as we would then get sworn at the next morning. - we were made to be quite pushy with customers which was way out of my comfort zone as it made us no better than a pushy car sales man. Managers would tell us not to let the customer leave until we had gone back and spoken to them for a pet talk. Then we would have to go back to the customer and push more to sell, even when the customer was clearly uncomfortable with this. I hated this and would always put the customer first instead as I wouldn’t want to be treated that way myself. - management known for bullying weaker members of staff. Big sacking culture if people didn’t hit their targets, 1 guy even got sacked on his birthday whilst on holiday! - January everyone is expected to work every single day of the month for 4 weeks straight without a day off, we often didn’t have proper breaks during this time either because the company would give managers a food allowance to get pizzas in. So that you could just grab and go. By the time February came everybody would be ill and knackered. Yes we made a lot of money in that time but looking back it really wasn’t worth it. - the Christmas do the manager went home early with the money the company had given him and everyone had to all put in at the end to pay for it out of their own money. - never got paid as promised for overtime - 2 year probation period, so they can just get rid of you if you don’t hit targets within that time frame. Its the longest probation period i have ever heard of, this also gives you no rights really due to the contract. - at the time i was given 2 weeks intense training at the NEST in Barton on humber Hull. There you are treated like a child again where for those 2 weeks alcohol is strictly forbidden and you get sacked if you are to even have a drop whilst there. It didn’t bother me too much but i know others found it quite hard. I think now they only get a weeks training though, im guessing to save more money.. SHOCK. When i started i was told Wren was rated no 1 best retail employer. I think this has been very much cheated as at the end of the training everyone is asked to fill in the survey there and then! At this point we had just had some fun training in the NEST where there are 2 nice canteens and a gym so bearing in mind we hadn’t actually started the job properly yet. Let me tell you when you get into the actual pressurised showroom all of the fun sugar coatedness dies off. I think for those working at the factory and those working in the NEST it probably is a nice place but showroom isnt all glitter and rainbows unfortunately. - basically its the job for you if you have zero social life, are prepared to work every single weekend and can be cut throat and not care about your co workers or the customers. Money doesn’t buy you happiness and quite frankly I have never been stressed in my whole life until i worked at this place. Worst few years of my life and I am truly glad to be out.
