Pros
I've recently seen some not so flattering reviews on this webpage about Wren as a company, I have worked for Wren now for nearly 2 and a half years, I have progressed from designer level to Assistant General Manager of the new Southend Showroom.
I came to work for Wren because my previous employment was not so enjoyable - I was screamed at in my face, made to cry, and worked to the bone with no promotion in sight.
Now... I come to work, I do my job and I go home and I am appreciated!!
No-one rings me on my days off, of course there is pressure and stress, that comes with working in retail! the hours are long, but you get out what you put in!
I am the best paid now than I ever have been, so well in fact that for the first time in 13 years I am taking a full 2 weeks off and enjoying it on a Cruise in June!
My designers are the best paid in the industry, I have people who have been in the industry for 15 years commenting on how well we are looked after, the company buys in lunches for all the staff on big bank holiday days or special occasions. The regional manager will quite often turn up with KFC for the whole crew! The teams are incentivized often.
Do we expect a lot from them... absolutely! Who doesn't expect a lot from their employees these days, the difference - we try to look after our guys the best we can, we play games, we have fun and we work hard.
I work for the South and what a bunch we are, the divisional director Jason is the most self-driven man I have ever met, he never stops working, he works relentlessly - making life better for us, and as he says... we are creating a family, his family!
My regional is the most passionate about this company I have ever seen, he loves the company and 'bleeds green' He has taught me some invaluable things and I wouldn't change him one little bit.
My GM is one of the most renowned in the company... she is one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of working with, she understands, she is firm, she is very fair, and she works just as hard as the rest of us.
Of course not everyone will have the same opinion about the company that I have, everyone is entitled to their own story, but for me... I have never stayed longer then 2 years at a job, as I normally feel unappreciated, worthless, and disrespected.
Here I am made to feel a part of something... I feel like I have earned the right to stand in meetings with my title, and I am proud to finally be where I have wanted to be for so long.
Has the company made some mistakes, absolutely, we learned from those and now stand as the UK's number 1 kitchen retail specialist!!
How does it feel working for the UK's number 1 - Like I'm the number 1 - so we work like winners!
Cons
Not for the faint hearted, if your a strong willed, work hungry person... then Wren is right up your street.
