Pros

The benefits are decent including a lot of local discounts. A small engineering team that is very good at what they do and are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Very unprofessional workplace, a lot of meetings end in screaming matches and management does nothing to calm the issue down. The direct manager and director over the engineers are very hands on, to a point where they will push engineers out of the way and do the work themselves. This can be pretty frustrating/boring for any engineer.

Company Doesn’t Value You

Pros

You get to work for a reputable company.

Cons

After working there for many many years, I have seen time and time again that the upper management doesn’t value their current employees. I’ve seen lower management leave and get replaced with lesser qualified employees for much more pay. This company is the definition of corporate and they act like it. I would never recommend working there unless you want to be and feel under appreciated, overworked, and undervalued.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, many great people to work with, prestigious company

Cons

Poor management, lack of follow through, lack of leadership at the department level. They have policies for everything but only follow them when it is convenient. Management gives you tasks to perform then actively blocks you from being able to perform them. Nepotism is rampant in this company. There is no work life balance. There were many days when I worked a full shift, got a call about an outage and spent another 10 hours on a bridge call I really did not need to be on, slept for an hour or two then had to go back to work. They will not lay anyone off. My position was eliminated but rather than offering me another position of simply laying me off I was fired for a first offense of putting the wrong date on a document which was only seen by my direct supervisor. I put the 14th on a memo I sent my manager but it was actually the 15th. Apparently, it looked like I was trying to backdate the document which translated to "dishonesty in my paperwork". After firing me, my position was advertised on one job search site for 7 days than the posting was quietly taken down and the position was never filled. I saw several "unpopular" employees purposely setup for failure to give managers a reason to fire them in the year I worked for this company. My manager actually bragged about how he had planted evidence to get a network Ops technician he did not like fired.
