Pros

Standard office amenities (coffee, refreshments, etc.) are provided. Some teams are made up of capable and hardworking individuals despite broader challenges.

Cons

The culture can feel consistently high-pressure and, at times, unsustainable, which may impact wellbeing over time. Leadership often operates reactively and in the short term, with teams spending significant time firefighting rather than delivering long-term value. There is a recurring gap between planning and execution, with shifting priorities and missed expectations. Organisational changes and restructuring can create ongoing uncertainty and affect morale. The company has faced challenges in consistently meeting targets, leading to increased pressure and instability. Employee turnover is high, particularly among experienced staff, with many moving to more stable environments. Support structures, such as HR, may not always provide the support employees expect in difficult situations. Overall, this may not be the right environment for those seeking stability, strong leadership, and a supportive culture.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, and for your contributions over the past five years. We’re sorry to hear that your recent experience has left you feeling this way. Feedback from all colleagues matters, and we want to make sure you can discuss any concerns directly with us. If you feel comfortable, please reach out to any member of the ELT, or alternatively the People & Culture team, so we can listen and try to understand your perspective. Over the past few years, it’s no secret that we’ve gone through significant positive change as we’ve matured as a business. We now have a clearer long term strategy and a stronger sense of direction, and we’re working hard to create an environment that we’re all proud to be part of. Recent investments - such as the improvements to our Guildford office and expanding product and technology teams from both a resource and tooling perspective - are part of that ongoing effort to ensure our teams feel supported and valued. We also recognise that our industry is evolving rapidly, particularly with the opportunities AI is creating across both our software and our development processes. We’re moving at pace to embrace these opportunities, and we’re focused on building a culture where people who are energised by innovation and fast moving environments can thrive and help shape what comes next. We hope you’ll consider speaking with us directly. Open conversations help us continue to improve, support our people, and build the kind of company we all want to be part of.

Pros

Xceptor has a genuinely powerful product and works on interesting, complex problems within financial services. You get real exposure to enterprise clients, senior stakeholders, and meaningful automation use cases. The people are knowledgeable, driven, and generally supportive, and there’s a strong culture of ownership—you’re trusted to run with things and make decisions. If you enjoy learning, problem-solving, and working close to both clients and product, there’s a lot of scope to grow.

Cons

Like many growing SaaS companies, priorities can shift quickly and teams can feel stretched at times. Processes are still evolving, which can sometimes mean ambiguity around ownership or ways of working. The pace won’t suit everyone, especially if you prefer highly structured or rigid environments. There has been significant investment across leadership and new talent over the last couple of years, it is now becoming a lot more focused and clear on goals and objectives and this is helping ease that ambiguity. There is a clear direction and that comes from the Top - creating an environment that is much easier to navigate, and a feeling of a shared purpose. The progress of the company is showing this and I look forward to it continuing.

You’re absolutely right that evolving processes and shifting priorities can create moments of ambiguity, and we recognise that this pace isn’t for everyone. Over the past couple of years, we’ve made significant investments in leadership and talent precisely to bring broader and more diverse experience, greater clarity, focus, and alignment—and it’s encouraging to hear that these changes are being felt and are making the environment easier to navigate. Your advice around continuing to invest in clear prioritisation, role clarity, and cross-team alignment is well taken. As client demand grows and the company continues to scale, these areas remain a key focus for us to ensure teams can stay effective, engaged, and supported.as these are core elements of how we want people to experience working at Xceptor.

We’re so glad you took the time to share your thoughts - thank you. Like many of our people, it means a lot to hear that you find the people at Xceptor collaborative, approachable, and full of energy - this is exactly the kind of environment we want to continue creating together as we scale. We also really appreciate your honest feedback about processes. We know that when things move quickly, it can sometimes feel reactive, and we’re committed to finding the right balance between flexibility and structure. Your suggestions around team structures, meetings, and tools are spot on, and they’re helping guide the improvements we’re making - for example Product Board, Gainsight, Rocket Lane etc. Thank you again for being part of our journey and for helping us grow and improve.
