Despite many changes that are happening at Yale University, many of the staff members are furiously resistant to change. Because the benefits package is so rich, many people stay at Yale much longer than in the past. The baby boomers on average in the country are staying for 9 additional years in the workforce. At Yale University, the numbers must be higher since there are hundreds of employees who have been at the university for over 30 years. Change comes slow at Yale and adapting to new technologies and better ways of doing business seem to be stalled due to the rigid mindset of many of the "lifers" who have cemented beliefs and ways of doing things. Most high performers do not make it at Yale because they either aren't challenged in their roles or can't find the support to make much needed improvements.
