Pros

Nice place. A small town but close to NYC. A lot of activities like plays and concerts. Nice museums. Pleasant working space and friendly coworkers. Helpful career services.

Cons

Intense course work and sometimes have to work late. The teaching sometimes can be very time consuming. Otherwise very good.

Pros

Premier University that is highly respected. Top-notch speakers visit the school.

Cons

Some (probably many) departments have terrible sr. leadership. Staff generally treated poorly compared to students/faculty. New Haven is limiting.

Pros

Yale University has great benefits, generous paid time off and an incredible scholarship program for employee's children. The medical benefits are amazing if you are willing to use the Health Plan you pay nothing if you meet the salary requirements and there are no visit co-pays ever.

Cons

Despite many changes that are happening at Yale University, many of the staff members are furiously resistant to change. Because the benefits package is so rich, many people stay at Yale much longer than in the past. The baby boomers on average in the country are staying for 9 additional years in the workforce. At Yale University, the numbers must be higher since there are hundreds of employees who have been at the university for over 30 years. Change comes slow at Yale and adapting to new technologies and better ways of doing business seem to be stalled due to the rigid mindset of many of the "lifers" who have cemented beliefs and ways of doing things. Most high performers do not make it at Yale because they either aren't challenged in their roles or can't find the support to make much needed improvements.
