Pros

If you have no ambition in life they this is the place for you.

Cons

Things have really gone down hill the last two years, some great people have left, poor choices promoting the accounting guy, he has no clue and is a complete tool. The sales exec that was promoted seems to be completely lost. IT is a complete joke and run by the the most clueless person ever. Sales plummeting, old technology and designs and can't compete with any of the other companies. I will be amazed if they are still in business in 5 years, just a dead end place with no vision of real leadership.

An aggressively mediocre job

Pros

We have some good PTO. We also get several paid holidays that they occasionally take from us if the workload is high. If you want life-long job that never changes, this is the place for you.

Cons

The classic dead-end job can be found at Yokohama. The con is also the pro in this scenario--if you want a life-long aggressively mediocre job that you can count on, then Yokohama is right for you. 1-2% raises are the norm on years that we have raises. $25 Wal-Mart gift cards for Christmas are the norm on years that we get gift-cards for Christmas.

Unethical and Incompetent Leadership

Pros

Good benefits package, but by the time I left, benefits were being chipped away as quickly as possible. The office space is clean and new, and close to John Wayne Airport and South Coast Plaza.

Cons

This company is the American subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber, in Japan. Senior executives rotate in and out every 4 years or so, and so none of them look at the long-term impact of any decision. They are fixated on what they can accomplish before they rotate back to Japan, or some other subsidiary. IT jobs are awarded primarily to foreign contractors from Cognizant, or off-shored to Cognizant. They use local people *only* when they cannot find the talent they need at Cognizant. Although they pay premium prices for Cognizant workers, they do not want to pay going rates for the domestic help. IT management will say absolutely anything to get what they want, until they don't need you (or think they don't). Then all bets are off. The worst part is that they make decisions based on personal goals, and not necessarily the company's stated goals; when they draw subordinates into their deceits, they put rank and file employees in an ethical bind. If you have any other options, steer clear of this company.
