Great company to work for if hourly
Pros
The benefits are great. Union plant and they look after their union brothers. Medical insurance (at the time i was employed there) was only $160 per month for a family. This company has the feel of a large family. There are activities that are planned for all associates that bring everyone together (Like baseball games and company picnics). Yokohama has a strong safety culture that is facilitated by both the hourly associates as well as management.
Cons
There is no accountability for the hourly associates. HR works closely with the Union regarding disciplinary action for the hourly associates. Hourly associates and the union in general are given too much power in regards to behavior and work habits that they fear no consequences for their actions therefore they don't adhere to all rules agreed upon by the Union and HR becaus. HR and the Union has set the standard, yet HR does not support the supervisors and managers that hold the associates to these standards.
