Pros

-At least in my experience, people do treat each other well. You aren't pitted against each other, you are actually professionally rewarded for mentoring other people -Benefits (excluding my point in the 'cons') are very strong. Health insurance covers a lot -Work is interesting if you are into healthcare/biotech. It is also very well respected in the field, so exit opportunities are usually quite robust -A decent amount of flexibility to move between teams/interest areas

Cons

-Working hours have been very unstable, While it was always apart of the deal that you would work hard in consulting, Q4 this last year was out of control. There's hardly any associate or associate consultants left, you had managers leading entire projects by themselves. People were raising red flags about capacity way before this and nothing was done. Frankly, ZS pushed people too hard this past year and many talented, exceptional team members left because they worked too many hours -ZS used to be a very fun, social place. Within the last 1.5 hours, there has been a complete shut down of all outside work activities. This isn't just happy hours but also charity events, learning panels and in-person summits. ZS feels like a very different place than when I joined; people aren't connected anymore. This, coupled with the long working hours, has contributed to a very negative mood throughout the company. -Finally, there was a recent benefit policy change this year that removed our standard coverage of IVF (which was extremely comprehensive, by the way) and instead offers a flat, lifetime payment that is supposed to cover all pregnancy related services such as IVF, lactation consultants, night nurses etc. The amount allocated would probably cover one round of IVF, that's it. There was no warning or communication, leaving many people in limbo and confused. Shameful for a company that quite literally specializes in healthcare benefits.

Pros

There is a kool-aid most drink, they call it culture. While it is corny, I've observed that majority of folks do try to adhere to the culture of "Treat People Right, Get It Right, Do The Right Thing" The pay isn't on par with bigger consulting firms (not far off), but the coaching is better Flexible on where you work, PTO policy is nice

Cons

The hours are tough. You might coast for a bit, but if you want to climb you will need to pay your dues eventually. Typically Consultant and Manager role is the busiest. The 401K match is laughable, other smaller perks try to make up for it, but honestly not great other than insurance. Health insurance is amazing. The bad apples that have made their way up are going to manage you at some point or another. Some people climbed up strictly on numbers, and forgot about the people component. ZS does not do enough to punish these people because they get results through making you miserable.

Pros

- Mostly terrific, professional, courteous, and smart people working there - Healthy pay, transparency around comp., steady growth - If you performed well, they made it worth your while to stay

Cons

- Fractional staffing (more than one Client at once) was tough - Long hours common across the firm - We were still a growing firm in every industry except Pharma, and having non-Pharma Clients was a totally different experience (worse data, less industry expertise led to a lot of 'unknown unknowns' and ambiguity) - This could have totally been specific to my office, but the few less-than-professional individuals I worked with were known to HR but seemed to be protected because they sold a decent amount of work / margin.
