Pros

- Standard benefits expected of a large company. Parental Leave, and Adoption Assistance are +++ - Affordable coverage for spouses/dependents. - LGBT Friendly Benefits - 6% matching on 401k - Discounted Stock Purchase Program - Machine Shop runs 3 shifts, so there is flexibility. - Production Floor overtime is often available, and usually never mandatory. - Shop floor is clean and organized, work-flow is quick, and 6S & Lean are followed. - AC and Clean Air in all production areas. - On average, a Machinist can expect around 90 days of training. - Work is easy, standardized, and repetitive. - All tools supplied. - Comfortable company to retire from.

Cons

- Pay is below average for Local Market. - Company holds onto PTO days to cover Shop Shut Downs. - 3rd shift differential is only 2.5% more than the 2nd shift. Currently 3rd shift is 12.5% which is at lease 7.5% below local market average. - Very difficult to get cross training, or move around the company. They can't attract and retain new people to allow more experienced people to move around and grow. - Outsource more than move within the company. On average always hiring 8 Production Machinist positions, but can't retain the people they have so they outsource. - Bonuses are 1 time a year after the New Year, and are low average unless you work extra overtime. - Raises are on average 2-2.5% once a year (less than cost of living pre-covid), with a max of 3%. - Raises do not reflect employee contribution, experience or skills gained in training. - Professional growth is geared to Office Personnel, there is no metric for a Machinist on the Shop Floor. - Management has created an environment that doesn't encourage people to do better. Hard work and contribution goes unrewarded. - Getting access to information needed for the job, benefits, or policy is harder than it needs to be. - Severe lack of transparency when it comes to policies that impact Employees. - Aspects of the training/on-boarding process are repetitive, and not always related to the task you perform. - Mandatory Computer Training is not ESL or Neurodivergent supportive. - Very strict and harsh attendance policy. - Strong anti-harassment policy, but there is still discrimination on the shop floor towards women, LGBT identifying, and other minorities.
