Pros

Free breakfast. Pretty flexible on life work balance. Not much else to say about pro's zones has really eliminated them over the years.

Cons

If you are reading positive reviews on this site I can almost guarantee these are from people who have worked as zones for less than 2 years. Senior management is ultra greedy and does anything they can to try and rip their employees off any chance they get. The keep spiffs (unitl the manufacture catches them then they just dont take them any more) They force you to buy through vendors distributors that will give zones end of the year kick backs that reps dont get paid on, good accounts and tools to be successful such as flights to see clients money to buy things for clients and the ability for your clients to have a good buying experince is reserved for reps that are the most well liked. Purchasing will go behind your back and shop products, Zones will not allow you to do the same, they call any profit from this "by side margin" again they do not pay the reps on this. They force you to go to useless trainings none of them are of any real benifit and most of them are just a sales pitch from the manaufacture. They do this because they force manufactures to pay a minimum of 50k a year to sells their products at zones. *******LET ME BE STRAIGHT ABOUT THIS ONE SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS******* ZONES DOES NOT NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL GIVE ANY KIND OF A RAISE. Nothing for inflation nothing for performance nothing at all. The salary you are hired at is the same salary you will be at the day you leave zones even if it is 20 years later. All Zones does to try and battle this is say "give yourself a raise" needless to say a complete joke. When things get tough in the economy zones makes it even harder to make any money. As I mentioned before zones keeps the majority of spiffs however some manufactures such as HP and lenovo force them to pay to the employees. Zones combats this by placing a "minimum margin requirment" on your sales before you get paid. They dictate what tha minimum margin is a lot of times it makes it to where you can not be competitive so you either lowever your margin to win the deal and not get paid anything or lose the deal and have management harrass you and tell you that you are a failure. Also over the years zones has slowly stopped hadning out any kind of gift cards they dont really allow manufactures to do it and they seem to just not like it. It seems like if zones is not making money on it then they are going to make sure you dont get it either. They treat most reps like children you are not allowed to change prices on items priced under $50 dollars, you are not allowed to see what disti partner has the best cost before you ship the product, they never allow to many people to work from home, unless you are willing to give up your measly base salary and go on a commission only plan. Pretty much everything zones has set up is to ensure that senior management gets paid and you dont. They want you to earn about 50 to 60k a year just enough so that you just dont up an quit but not enough to ever really get ahead. In todays market with inflation for a sales job that is almost a waste of time, the whole reason people work in sales is to make money good money because it is one of the most hated jobs there is. You try cold calling people all day long have the cuss at you hang up the phone and tell you that they have tried zones in the past and had a terrible experience for 50k a year.

Pros

Decent pay but nothing else

Cons

First- seems to me that the reviews are being artificially inflated/submitted to try to boost the overall results- we heard in September/October how bad the reviews were and suddenly slightly more positive reviews have shown up since; all while nothing has gotten better. The opposite. That employee engagement initiative that went nowhere? Good times. Senior Leadership only cares about the bottom line. While we all know this is an important part of the business, you’re looking at it from the wrong lens. Customers are frustrated and do not trust us because of high turnover. Employees feel disposable, undervalued, and are overwhelmed with fear. Listen to your most valuable asset- your employees. They WANT to do well. They want to be a part of something bigger; of your company! But they need to feel as though they matter. Good employees are not just those that can do the technical skill- that can be taught. But those who possess qualities consist with the core values you drill until us from the start. Also those of a customer centric mind, passion for people leadership, desire for engagement and passion for doing the right things for the right reasons. All of this ultimately help you achieve your bottom line goals. To have such high turnover or executive-led layoffs is unnerving from a cultural perspective and is terrifying to new talent! Ask anyone who’s been here less than a year, if they’ve lasted this long. Also take a look at your VP’s. The employee experience and the Manager/director level experience is vastly different depending who’s org you fall into. You have great Directors and Managers who are trying to keep their employees going, support the company objectives, shaI sane, and ultimately know none of it matters because the higher ups will cut anyone and everyone. Unless you’re friends with the right people. You could have a very different employee experience but you have shown you don’t care about it and are willing to lose talented team members continuously over it. Take a breath and focus on your current Organization instead of constantly hiring and firing. It’s killing your culture, your reputation, and your potential.
