Pros

Every other friday off Free lunch Great colleagues Nice management The Share scheme and pension plan Emphasis on work life balance Being able to take time off whenever you want as long as you get the work done. Really friendly people who will take the time to help and support you when you need it. A large organisation means that you'll always find someone who has good advice on the work that you're doing.

Cons

Bureaucracy (they are working on this but we'll see if it works out) Over analysis of issues instead of just going and doing it!

Pros

They are very understanding when employees need to take time to address personal issues.

Cons

The management seems to be working in a fantasy world no one else can find. They set unobtainable goals and if a goal is close to being reached, they change it to one that can't be reached. Morale is not doing well. This company is full of compulsive starters, but it's hard to find someone that will do the follow-up work.

Pros

Opportunities for seastaff to come ashore and into the wider group. Seastaff have a good chance of completing a tour of duty in the same or a better state than before - not the same elsewhere. Emphasis on safety is strongly led at the opertional unit level (on the ships!).

Cons

Not much emphasis on paper being ok - not operations! Old priority was safe transportation of hydrocarbons and reducing risk to bp as a whole - now it's about maximising profit and cutting costs. Sometimes it seems that QA applies to the ships - not to the office. This may mean open communication is reduced.
