Pros

Sorry, But I cannot really think of anything very positive to say here. Ebay WAS a great company. Absolutely revolutionary. It literally changed the way the world did business by providing a truly level venue for the free market to operate worldwide. However, the fun friendly spirit of ebay is dead. It is a corporate zombie hell.

Cons

Company has lost any sense of what the original ebay community represented. The company has completely lost its vision. The community values that made ebay a fun, friendly, vibrant community are gone, replaced by greed and corporatism. Business schools will study ebay as a model of failure.

Pros

Lots of challenges; technology solutions driven by business objectives; quarterly goals oriented work culture; gold mine of internet technology problems for the ones who are in the solution business.

Cons

Promotions are sometimes not consistent with performance, results, potential and contribution to the company. concerns on too many projects with lack of strategic coherence.

Pros

eBay's work - life balance is good. The pay is reasonable for what the job entails (although somewhat scanty for such an expensive part of the country). Benefits and perks are acceptable. It's easy to take a vacation when you want. In short, eBay is not a bad place to find yourself for a few years. It looks good on the resume, and can lead to better things elsewhere.

Cons

Company has no clear direction for future. Turnaround efforts seem ill-thought out. Great ideas are poorly funded, and so poorly executed. Too much focus on short- term gain at the expense of long -term growth. On a personal level, no real support for continuing education, growth opportunities, making connections and participating outside the office. Belief that travel to conferences and such is not necessary because "anything important happens in the bay area."
