Big upside, big downside.

Pros

Good upside potential if they ever fix all of the problems.

Cons

Confusing / inconsistent strategy at the top; polticians have completely taken over the top ranks and are skillful at burying their failures in bs versus actually confessing to serious mistakes and correcting them. Technical emphasis is on buzzwords ("SOA", "Cloud Computing") versus actually shipping products. Product development is broken. Fear and politics drive technical decisions. People (externally) are starting to hate eBay so it's harder to be proud of where you work.

Pros

It used to be good, but it's just not anymore. I can't think of any "best reasons" anymore. It used to be fun, but now it's a nightmare.

Cons

It used to be good, but it's just not anymore. It's sad. I am ashamed now to say that I work for eBay. Most sellers hate eBay now for what we have done to them--ruining their livelihood and businesses in order to try to become Walmart Junior or Amazon Lite. They are leaving in droves, and I don't blame them. If eBay could go back to what it was before JD took over, we MIGHT have a chance in the long term. The stock price tells all, if you aren't already aware of all that is going on.

Pros

eBay quickly lost credibility in 2008 as it's very clear the company is only trying to become the worlds largest fixed price flea market from hell. When was the last time anyone ever talked about the fun eBay we knew for years. Does anyone read email from our members anymore? Has any Senior Management ever called anonymously to the eBay support teams and talked to our brilliant inexperienced team members from Mumbai. Customer Support is in a downward spiral trying to run a call center that is broken at every angle from nobody knowing how to address customers properly to technology that don't work

Cons

Data that really doesn't tell the story of the community only what will help a high score on the Quarterly IPPR. No indepdent review of quality of the work or the benefits to the customer. Waste of money, time, and projects that make no sense in a true turnaround. Our Community team has been eliminated and now your expert to help you is from Mumbai with no feedback and no computer and only knows eBay as a paycheck
