Where to begin? Clueless Executive leadership, starting with the CEO. Nearmap develops products without any consideration for the market fit, which means Engineering & Product waste months on dead-end projects. The CEO has developed a reputation for lying to staff and acting irrationally. He has no idea how to scale the company and should step aside. The remainder of the leadership group are out of their depth and have no clue as to how to grow the company further.
The culture is absolutely toxic. Management select favourites and shun others, with bullying and constructive dismissal common practice at Nearmap. Unfortunately, no amount of table tennis or free snacks will make up the discomfort, concern and fear many staff members feel on a daily basis. The company is millimetres from a serious compliance breach and legal action that ends up in the news.
Asides from zero commercial foresight and horrendous culture, you can also bank on being paid well below market rate. After bragging for years about the "money in the bank", the business had the arrogance to slash staff salaries -- all while paying the executive bonuses! No wonder so many long-term staff quit in disgust.
The final straw has to be the fraudulent positive reviews, that the HR Department spend half their time writing on Glassdoor. Do not believe the propaganda -- this is truly an awful place to work.
If you want to work for inspiring leaders, enjoy your job and make decent money, this is NOT the place for you!
