Pros

Lots of new additions at all levels (and for the better) to the company. Experienced and approachable HR - genuinely interested in what we think. Product continues to be innovative. Recent expansion in the U.S. is exciting to see happening.

Cons

Fast paced with a lot going on so have to be able to prioritize and manage your own work-life balance. Would like to hear more about Sales strategy and "what's next". Make the company more visible, Schedule hackathon days.

Executive Failure, Deceit and Depressing Pay

Pros

Barangaroo location is convenient, intelligent co-workers. The technology is cool and seems useful to a handful of businesses.

Cons

Where to begin? Clueless Executive leadership, starting with the CEO. Nearmap develops products without any consideration for the market fit, which means Engineering & Product waste months on dead-end projects. The CEO has developed a reputation for lying to staff and acting irrationally. He has no idea how to scale the company and should step aside. The remainder of the leadership group are out of their depth and have no clue as to how to grow the company further. The culture is absolutely toxic. Management select favourites and shun others, with bullying and constructive dismissal common practice at Nearmap. Unfortunately, no amount of table tennis or free snacks will make up the discomfort, concern and fear many staff members feel on a daily basis. The company is millimetres from a serious compliance breach and legal action that ends up in the news. Asides from zero commercial foresight and horrendous culture, you can also bank on being paid well below market rate. After bragging for years about the "money in the bank", the business had the arrogance to slash staff salaries -- all while paying the executive bonuses! No wonder so many long-term staff quit in disgust. The final straw has to be the fraudulent positive reviews, that the HR Department spend half their time writing on Glassdoor. Do not believe the propaganda -- this is truly an awful place to work. If you want to work for inspiring leaders, enjoy your job and make decent money, this is NOT the place for you!

Whilst you are entitled to your opinion, our recent engagement score (81% in November) and below industry average turnover simply don’t support your comments. Additionally, all employees who took a salary reduction at the beginning of Covid, received shares to the same value to offset this loss of salary. Our Executive team did not receive shares – and instead simply took a reduced salary. As a listed company our Executive compensation is transparent and governed by our Board. Comments relating to ‘bullying’ ‘compliance breaches’ and ‘fraud’ are taken very seriously and we have processes including a whistleblower hotline specifically for such allegations. These formal avenues are much more constructive than venting online.

Going nowhere fast

Pros

The two things this company has going for itself is solid technology and a decent vision where it needs to be. The rest is forgettable.

Cons

The company's ceo has been described here as erratic, spiteful, and arrogant. Let me add clueless and incompetent. Going nowhere fast.
