      Old business, too much work

      Pros

      There are many smart people who work very hard at ON. There is a wide variety of engineering roles to choose from. There are many different cultures to work with and international travel opportunities.

      Cons

      Work-life balance is almost non-existent. With factories all over the world, expect to work many hours/day and always be behind. The semiconductor business is very mature and hyper competitive. It has become a grind. There is little chance for upward mobility.

      Pros

      Most management promote work/life balance. Options for sales to work from home or an office in many locations. Enable sales to be very strategic in account and market development/growth plans.

      Cons

      Merit increases and salary do not seem aligned to performance. No profit sharing. Most years, FTO in Q4 for the whole company. Limited growth opportunities if you are not located near HQ. Hard to navigate the company to know who to contact; it is very much based on relationships that make it difficult for newcomers to easily assimilate to the corporation.
